One of the most effective methods today to treat acne is laser acne treatment. It is also one of the most expensive, costing as much as many hundreds of dollars per treatment. For this reason many acne sufferers are exploring more affordable options, including natural and home acne remedies.

For many acne patients, home remedies for acne will prove to be their best treatment option. After all, they are relatively inexpensive, produce generally satisfactory results, and there are – in most cases – no serious complications or side effects associated with their use. Why spend $50 – $100 on a store bought acne treatment product when you may be able to achieve comparable results with methods utilizing products that are usually available in your own kitchen?

One such method involves applying a mixture of equal parts rose water and lemon juice to your acne affected areas for about a half an hour. Generally this treatment should be carried out once a day for about 3 weeks.

Another method that some say produces results is applying cooked oatmeal (let it cool first, of course) directly to the areas of your skin that have been affected by the acne for about 20 minutes, and then washing it off.

A very simple, yet effectual, acne home treatment product is created by mixing some basil leaves and a few tea bags in hot water together for about ten minutes or so. The mixture can then be applied directly to affected skin with a cotton ball or soft tissue.

Then there’s good old reliable garlic. That’s right, garlic. Some have found acne treatment success by applying several pounded cloves of garlic to their acne and then washing it off after about 15 minutes. This method takes advantage of garlic’s natural anti-septic properties.

There are many more such methods available to help treat acne. Do they work? While there is no actual scientific data that proves their effectiveness, many people who have tried them swear by their results. There’s really nothing to lose in trying them, especially if your acne isn’t too severe. Obviously, more severe cases may require more extensive (and expensive) treatment, but it just might save you a good deal of money in giving one of these home acne remedies a try first.
